GIRL FOUND IN RECYCLING BIN
by Gwen,Maya, Trevor,and Johnny

Last Monday around 10 P.M. Autumn,a new jersey girl was found in a recycling bin. Autumn was last seen peddling her BMX bike to a friends house and she was declared missing. Monday,21 2012 when she was found stuffed into a recycling bin, dead. Some people blame their neighbors, 2 teens that like stealing bikes.

16 year old Na'emm Williams, who described himself as a close friend of the brothers said he knew the brothers to take bikes, but thought it was a leap for them to kill someone. Authority's say the younger boy lured Autumn to there home promising to trade bike parts. The prosecutors said she expects her office to attempt to try the brothers as adults. We can learn from this experience by never accepting invites to places you do not know by strangers. Her funeral is October 27, 2012.

Obama's Polish Mistake

by David Campbell

This is about the recent speech Obama made, honoring a polish war hero for his bravery in WWII. But he misspoke and said that he found out the information at a "Polish Death Camp". He said that as if there were no Nazis responsible. The White House came to his aid though, and said that it was a mistake. The foreign minister wrote a letter to the White House, hoping that that will prevent future mistakes. This was one awkward mistake!

Solar and Lunar Eclipse

What are the Differences between Solar and Lunar Eclipse?
By: Henry Lam
There was a solar eclipse on May 20. It was the first annular eclipse in 18 years. It was visible in eastern Asia and Northern Pacific. You may wonder what the difference between solar and lunar eclipse are. Well, they are sort of similar. A solar eclipse can only occur at new moon and lunar eclipse occurs only at full moon. Solar eclipses last for about 7 minutes 40 seconds and lunar eclipses last for about 1 hour 40 minutes. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon.  A solar eclipse happens when the shadow of the Moon is cast on the Earth and a lunar eclipse happens when the shadow of the Earth is cast on the Moon.

Titanoaba The Monster Snake

The Titanoaba is a monster snake that lived over 58 million years ago. The Titanoaba lived in Cerrejon, a swampy immense jungle with plenty of humidity and water. The Titanoaba is now holding the place for the largest snake discovered. Sadly the Titanoaba is not alive, researchers don't know if this giant snake was part of a whole species of giant snakes. It will be hard to find out, because snake fossils decay very quickly. One hypothesis though is that the Titanoaba was just maybe 3 times the size of a regular python and the size was added on to the abundance of food and the great climate for it to thrive in.

3 New Species Found!!!

a millipede with a common name of wandering leg sausage
Millipede the size of a sausage.
By: Bryce Yeager, Riley Ryan, Timothy Kwan.
3 new species were found(on left). The animals were a millipede also known as "wandering leg sausage", a blue tarantula found in Brazil, and a monkey found in Myanmar that sneezes when it rains.

These animals got on the Top 10 list of new species. The millipede was in 8th place, the tarantula got in 10th, and the monkey got in 1st place.

The first species is a giant millipede. It has 56 rings, with each ring having 2 legs. It is an amazing 6.3 inches long, the longest of any millipede known. That's the size of a sausage!

The second species is a snub-nosed monkey that, oddly, sneezes whenever it rains. It is white-bearded and has black fur. It is believed to be critically endangered. That's a shame, I was wishing to see one of these in the mountains where it was found.
Found in Myanmar, this monkey sneezes when it rains
The third species is the Sazima's turantula. It is a breathtaking sight to see as it is blue almost all over. It was originally found in the flattop mountains in Brazil. I think that this arachnid is pretty cool to look at.

Giant Turtle!

By:Bryce Yeager, Riley Ryan, Timothy Kwon.
Researchers found the remains of a 60 million year old fossilized turtle, the size of a smart car. Researchers say the turtle was the largest predator in its environment. and this turtle had powerful jaws that could eat anything it encountered such as, mollusks, smaller turtles, crocodiles, etc.

This turtle was found in  2005 in the mine in Colombia's Cerrejon formation by Edwin Cadena. The turtle's skull measures 24 centimeters and the shell is 5ft 7in long.

The Blobfish

The Mysterious Jellyfish

Riley Ryan, Timothy Kwon and Bryce Yeager
A brown blob that is seemingly covered in scales was spotted by an underwater drilling camera.
The "blob" is a Deepstaria Enigmatica that was seen as a brown thing that looked to have scales. It was found a t about 5045 ft deep. Steven Haddock, a scientist for The Monterrey Bay Aquarium, said that the "blob" is a jellyfish that is not actually very rare to see. But it is rare to see it intact.
The jellyfish had organs and appendages sticking out. This is very rare to see. Of course, this kind of thing happens every once in a while, right? Yes, it does. It seems that this time it was a jellyfish of epic blobbiness.

The Avengers

By: Timothy K., Bryce Y., Riley R.
The Avengers, the new hit movie that came out on May 4, 2012, got 4.5 stars out of 5 stars, which means it is a good movie. Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, HawkEye, Thor, and Nick Fury are in the movie. They team up and form the Avengers. Captain America uses a shield that never breaks for a weapon. Hulk is a person that when he gets angry he turns into the Hulk who uses his strength to fight. Iron Man is a guy in a iron suit which has weapons like blasters. Black Widow is a highly trained assassin. Hawk Eye is a highly trained archer. Hawk Eye is like Speedy, and Green Arrow from Batman .Thor is the son of Odin and uses a hammer to fight. Nick Fury is the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., an agency of military defense.

The Avengers don't always get along with each other, and get in many fights. Iron Man is very arrogant. The Hulk could transform in any given time. The others actually can get along with each other.

Loki, Thor's adopted brother, plans to rule the Earth and steal the Tessaract, which is an alien resource. The Avengers try to stop him, and in the end, they are successful and save the world from Loki. They also blow up the enemy base with a nuclear missile and kill all of the enemy soldiers.

White Orca

White Orca Spotted Off The Coast Of Russia
Riley Ryan, Timothy Kwon and Bryce Yeager

A fully-white orca whale was spotted off the coast of Russia by scientists that were on a research cruise. They named it Iceberg.
Iceberg seemed to live a normal life in his pod of twelve other whales. He is an adult male and one of the only white orca whales seen on the planet before, and the only grown male.

This phenomenon was a huge event for the world. We hope to see another creature as rare as this one.

"In many ways, Iceberg is a symbol of all that is pure, wild and extraordinarily exciting about what is out there in the ocean waiting to be discovered," stated Erich Hoyt of the Far East Russia Orca project, "the challenge is to keep the ocean healthy so that such surprises are always possible." –world news, msnbc.com

Meteor Shower

Meteor Shower
By: Timothy Kwon, Riley Ryan, Bryce Yeager
On the night of Sunday, April 22nd, 2012, a meteor shower hit Northern California with a loud boom that was heard and felt all over the region. At first it was one meteor the size of a softball but then it broke up above the Earth so multiple meteors hit the Earth. Even though the peak of the meteor shower was Saturday night, April 21st, 2012, light beams will still probably be visible for multiple days.
This meteor shower is called the Lyrids. They usual hit on April 21. This year they hit Nevada and California. Luckily the meteors didn’t kill or injure or destroy anything. Even though these meteors are beautiful sights, they can cause major destruction.

River Monsters: Vundu Caught

River Monsters: Vundu Caught
By: Timothy Kwon, Riley Ryan, and Bryce Yeager
Jeremy Wade from River Monsters on Discovery Channel went to the Zambezi River in Africa. He heard stories of people mysteriously dying when fishing, so he went to catch a beast called the Vundu. He went to a river that said to have the beast. This river had a many fierce rapids, etc. He went to a part of a river with rapids. He threw his line in a caught nothing. He tried again and this time he caught a catfish, but it wasn’t the one he was looking for. Then he went to a part in the river that was half peaceful water and half rapids. He threw his line and caught something. When he pulled it in, he caught a tiger fish; sort of like the piranha, but bigger. So he gave up on that part of a river.
So he went to a brother of someone who died of being pulled into the river when he was fishing. Jeremy thinks he died of the fish he was trying to catch. The brother gives him some info on the fish. He says that it was a snake-like fish. Then he goes to a place and he asks them if he could fish at the bottom of the dam. While he is waiting for an approval, he goes to another part of the Zambezi River to fish. He tries but, he only gets other fish. Then when he was going back, he sees a dead hippo so he goes there and puts a hand line and leaves it overnight. The next day he goes to the same place he put the hand line in, he gets a catfish, but not the one he was looking for.
Then he gets news that he got his proposal to fish at the dam approved. So he immediately goes there as soon as possible. He throws his line and he got a fish! He pulls the fish in but not without a fight and he catches the fish he was looking for! It was the Vundu, almost 5 feet long, and 121 pounds. It was muscular and the color was olive brown on the surface and light brown or white on its bottom side. And it is the biggest freshwater species in Southern Africa and it can live up to 12 years. It is also known as Heterobranchus longifilis. This is clearly a man-eating fish.

Discoveries In The Titanic!

By: Bryce Yeager, Timothy Kwon, Riley Ryan.
Shocking news explorers found what they think are human remains in the sunken ship that we all know as the Titanic. A picture of the remains was taken in the year 2004, and for the first time ever released to the public. A man named Robert Ballard is the one who found the Titanic underwater, and a man named James Delgado was the one to map the entire Titanic shipwreck. He also found a boot of a person who used to be on the boat at the sight of the shipwreck. There was also luggage of the people on the Titanic and some fittings and some artifacts. The Titanic was found 2 1/2 miles below sea level, but we don't know where it is exactly.

Stereograms

Stereograms

Stereograms, the new brain puzzle, are a breakthrough in hidden imaging. Stereograms are normally hidden in pictures. They can be normally seen when crossing or un-crossing your eyes. Normally in stereograms, there are two similar images in which the object depth is encoded within the right and left position differences in the panels. There are many different types of stereograms such as Anaglyph images, Random Dot stereogams, SIRDS or single random dot stereograms, autostereograms and the wiggle gram. Dot stereograms are harder to see because they include dots with no common shape. They are also hard in a way that your eyes cannot go back to normal easily while focusing on the picture.
For more pictures check out: http://www.eyetricks.com/3dstereo.htm

Here are some stereograms:

                                                                       Spore

Spore,  the new series of games including: Spore, Spore Creature Creator, Spore: Galactic Adventures, Spore- Creepy and Cute, Spore creatures, Spore Hero, Spore Hero Arena, Spore Origins and the newest game, DarkSpore, which are games that are very virtual. These games are unique to the other ones because you can create your own characters in advance. You can add armor and enlarge it on your character. You can even change the body shape and add talons as well as wings on your character. Your different species are changeable in almost any different way. The game is very sophisticated in its features. You can even create your own detailed space ships, boats, planes and vehicles ranging in different types such as military, economical and religious. The basis of the regular Spore is to start at a cell stage where you're a little cell in the water. You move up the food chain until your a creature (creature stage). Within these two stages you use DNA to upgrade your character with your choice of add-dons (which you get from skeletons). When you move up to the next stage, you are controlling a tribe of your newly advanced species. You can fight the other tribes or deem them your allies. After you have completed the tribal stage, you will move to the civilization stage which is basically a bigger, more complicated version of the tribal stage. You get vehicles, boats and planes with your choice of the type of civilization you want: Military, Economical and Religious.
In Spore: Galactic Adventures, you even get to form and make your own planets as well as your own missions. The Spore: Galactic Adventures version is more sophisticated than the regular Spore but I recommend both.
When players get advanced they would like DarkSpore. DarkSpore is about having you and a set of genetically enhanced creatures defeat the genetically mutated evil guys which consist of minions, lieutenants  and bosses of the planets. The worlds are even more virtual and are extremely sophisticated. You can even challenge other players online. Spore is a great game with really nice graphics and adventures. Spore will be updating this game to Mac users shortly because there is a lot of PC users that would buy the game. These series of games are breakthroughs of programming and creativity.

Pilots

Pilots
Pilots are like the test for a show. It shows how many people like to watch the show. But the most important thing is to reveal the plot. To do this, you must introduce characters, setting, and then the problem, if this is a mystery show. If you have a comedy show, then it is different. You need to immensely explain each character's personality. You don't want a narrator telling their personality, but you want the audience to see the personality through their actions. If you have all this, you should have a successful show.

                                hydrogen cars by: Niko Francisco

Hydrogen cars use hydrogen and air to produce electricity. The good thing is that it only releases heat and water in the air. This car will greatly decrease global warming and greatly help our earth not turn into a wasteland. The car holds compressed hydrogen in a tank with a pipe going to the engine. At the engine, fuel cells consume hydrogen and  generate power. Finally, the power goes to the motor and powers the wheels. Hydrogen is better than gasoline because it's powerful and we have a lot of it. The whole sun uses hydrogen to glow and light up our day. We humans need to switch to hydrogen cars because it helps earth and it will substitute the gasoline that we will run out of.

Sony's OLED TV

Sony Corp. on Sunday, said it will be introducing a revolutionary new TV.
But, the TV happens to be only 3 credit cards thin.

The 11 inch TV will go on sale this month. But Sony is displaying a twenty inch prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It uses organic light emitting diode technology which ensures high picture quality. TV also known as the XEL-1 has a contrast ratio or the difference between maximum and minimum brightness which is about one million to one. This is a big improvement to the original thirty thousand to one. This high picture quality comes at a booming price of $2500. Though it was at $1700 at launch in japan.

No end in sight to apple growth?

At this point apple has almost 98 billion dollars on their hands. Apple’s stock has soared up 77% in the last year. Apple is now the most valuable company on the planet! According to stock analysts they expect that Apple will continue to grow and think that Apple’s shares are still worth buying. NASA's Escape Pod

NASA’S Escape Pod

Behold, NASA has now invented a escape pod designed to be equipped onto the Orion.  The Orion can carry a crew of six to the International Space Station and up to four astronauts to the moon. The escape pod can automatically launch and separate from the Orion. Shooting at top speeds of 450 mph in less than 3 seconds from detachment. The capsule is protected with many layers consisting of metal and fiber glass. The escape pod consist of computers, programmed to steady the balance of the capsule as well as direct the capsule to earth which will then descend and go through 3 stages through the atmosphere. The capsule was Ideally designed and programmed to land on the ocean but if it hits solid ground, the Orion will crumple to absorb the blow. The astronauts will be in their shock absorbing seats which will keep them safe. Scared to death but safe.

Aliens Invading Antarctica!

Aliens have been invading Antarctica!
But not in the way you might think
And definitely not the aliens you would think of either.

As researchers scavenged the clothing of tourists, they found foreign seeds of plants. These aliens can get caught in your shoe laces. Unfortunately the seed can harm the ecological balance of the polar continent. Researchers estimate that about 70,000 seeds are brought in each year. You might be thinking that the seeds could not survive in such a dire climate. Instead, the Antarctic is one the places where the temperature increases much faster than where you live. The tourists also tend to go to warmer places that will let these aliens colonize. Researchers are still finding evidence and you should be lucky that these aliens have invaded in a much smaller scale!

Mazda's Newest Concepts

Mazda Concepts By: Andy
Mazda has all new cars coming soon. Not normal cars, but concept cars. There will be mixes of Sedans and SUVs. There is one car that is good enough to drive with Ferries. This is a big step up for Mazda. The most expensive car is the Furai. It is about a quarter million dollars. These are all amazing cars to look at.                                           This is the Mazda furai.
